Whitestown's population has more than tripled since the 2010 census, and nearly all of that growth is recent enough to be built to current storm codes — but new roofing and flashing still fail under severe wind and hail, and the volume of new rooftops in Anson and other Whitestown subdivisions means storm damage calls scale with the town's rapid growth.

Because so much of Whitestown's infrastructure, including storm drainage, was built out quickly to keep pace with population growth from 471 residents in 2000 to roughly 11,276 by 2023, some newer subdivisions can see faster street and yard flooding during an intense rain event than a more established town with mature drainage infrastructure.
