An EF2 tornado hit just east of Brownsburg in 2025
An EF2-rated tornado touched down just east of Brownsburg during the April 2, 2025 central-Indiana outbreak — the same night an 18-tornado statewide event damaged buildings near Midtown Carmel — and it's a direct reminder that Brownsburg's rapid growth, from 1,578 residents in 1950 to 28,973 by 2020, has put a lot of roofs and foundations in a real storm corridor, not a hypothetical one.
White Lick Creek and fast local flooding
Brownsburg was settled in 1824 along White Lick Creek, and homes closest to that creek corridor, as well as the town's older in-town lots near the original 1848 plat, are the first to see standing water after an intense rain event, well before storm sewers in the newer subdivisions reach capacity.
